Information about the Native Australian names

The majority of indigenous Australians are Aborigines, whose ancestors traveled arrived in Australia at least 40,000 years ago. However, a small population, unrelated to the Aborigines and possibly Austronesian, inhabits the islands of the Torres Strait between Australia and Papua New Guinea, and some of them speak Papuan languages rather than Aboriginal languages. Over 200 languages were lost after the Europeans arrived in Australia, and Native Australian populations continue to fight for autonomy and recognition. The use of Native Australian names helps to keep the struggle in that country's consciousness.
