The people of Middle Africa, which includes Central Africa, are largely Bantu people who began migrating from what is now Cameroon into the east and south around 3,000 years ago. The official language in most of these countries is French or another European language, and although many people have European names, they often have Middle African middle names as well.
Middle African names are now used by hundreds of ethnic groups, including the Kongo, the Chewa, the Ovimbundu, and the Mbundu, and their descendants in communities around the world.
