The Iranian people have lived in what is now Iran for about four thousand years, and from the 6th century BC, they built one of the most far-reaching and influential empires in the Old World. Iranian culture, and most famously Persian culture, is renowned for its art, architecture, and literature, and many Iranian names are drawn from Persian literary classics.
