Meaning of the Name Yahweh
Yahweh is an English reading of יהוה (Yod Heh Waw Heh), the name of the God of the Jews or the people of Israel.
The four Hebrew consonants read JHWH (in German transcription) or YHVH (in English transcription). It is also common to use YHWH.
It was considered blasphemous to utter the name of God, so it was only written and never spoken. According to some theories,
this name may have been derived from the old Semitic root הוה (havah) meaning "to be" or "to become".
