The name Napoleon has several meanings:
1. It could be derived from Nibelungen, the name of a race of dwarfs in Germanic legend meaning "sons of the mist".
2. From Greek Napoleoon (from "napè" or "napos" - "forest, valley" and "leon" - "lion").
3. It could be also derived from the name of the Italian city Neapolis (Naples) and would have originally meant "from Naples".
