Interesting Facts about Carlos
Carlos, Prince of Asturias (1545 - 1568), was also known as Don Carlos. As the son of King Philip II of Spain, he was the heir to the throne.
He was engaged to French princess Elizabeth of Valois, but his father Philip married her instead. As he became older he became increasingly mentally unstable, so the king put him into solitary confinement, where he died six months later.
