Meaning of the Name Abelard
The name Abelard possibly comes from the name Adalhard, derived from the Germanic words "adal" - "noble" and "hard" - "hardy, brave".
According to another theory, Abelard could also derive from the given name Abel (possibly combined with the Germanic element "hard"), but this etymology is doubtful.
