1. As a masculine name it comes from Greek Mythology. Paris was the son of Priam, king of Troy, and the brother of Hector, who is best known for his elopement with Helen, queen of Sparta. This action caused the Trojan War. His name is of unknown meaning and origin (probably even non-Greek).
2. As a feminine and masculine name it comes from the name of the French capital. This name is derived from the name of the Gaulish tribe known as the Parisii. This name is used mainly as a feminine name.
