Meaning of Devon

The name Devon is of uncertain origin and meaning. According to some theories, it is a usual feminine form of Devin. Other theories state that the name Devon can be derived from the name of the English county, which is itself derived from the name of the Celtic people known as the Dumnonii (possibly meaning "deep valley dwellers" in the Brythonic Celtic languages, such as Welsh and Cornish). This name is mainly used in the United States.
