Meaning of the Name Ayn
The name Ayn has two meanings:
1. As a feminine name it was adopted by Ayn Rand (1905 - 1982), a Russian-American writer and philosopher whose real name was Alisa Rosenbaum.
Ayn Rand said that the origin of the name Ayn was Finnish, but some biographical sources suggested that it might actually come from the Hebrew word "ayin" meaning "eye".
2. As a unisex name it means "source, spring" in Arabic. Ayn also means eye in Arabic, akin to the Hebrew word "ayin" (both Hebrew and Arabic words have been derived from the Proto-Semitic "ayn" meaning "eye").
