Welcome to MFnames.com, a free online dictionary of names. Thank you for your interest in learning the etymology and history of first names.
My name is Igor Katsev. The etymology of names has been my hobby for decades, so I decided to create and publish this Male and Female Names website. It was first published on September 10th, 2007.
My goal is to provide people with the largest name dictionary in the world (not only the largest one - my first priority has always been, and will always be, the accuracy of the information).
The dictionary will include first names from all over the world, and each entry will tell you the origin, usage, pronunciation and meaning of the name, as well as its historical and religious significance.
I sincerely hope that people belonging to various cultures and religions will be able to find comprehensive information about their first names on this website.
